Interview with T. Harv Eker

One of the most beautiful aspects of living in America is the ability to be, do, and have anything and everything that we desire. One of the secrets to being a millionaire “is to identify and revise your personal money blueprint,” according to T. Harv Eker, who went from zero to millionaire in just two and a half years.

Being Magazine recently interviewed Harv about his bestselling book, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, in which he provides the tools to become a millionaire.

Being:  Who are you, Harv, and how did you uncover the secrets of a millionaire mind?

Eker: My parents came over from Europe as Holocaust survivors, with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Because they didn't have a lot of money, having money meant survival to them. As a child, all of my friends wanted to be astronauts, doctors, and lawyers, but I wanted to be a millionaire. I left college in search of the Holy Grail. After a few failed businesses, I finally got some advice from a multi-millionaire friend of my father's. He said, "Harv, I started the same way as you, a complete disaster. For the most part, rich people think in a certain way and those ways of thinking determine their actions and therefore determine their results. All you have to do is copy how rich people think."

I decided to study millionaires. Within the next two years, I became a multi-millionaire. Finally, I had my million, and I was on top of the world. But it didn't last because I had not changed my money blueprint.

Being:  You talk a lot about having a money blueprint, what is that, exactly?

Eker:  If we think about a thermostat having a set point to maintain a certain temperature, then I realized that people must have a set point for money that keeps them at a certain level of income. Basically, people have a financial blueprint, a financial set point. You can know everything about negotiation, real estate, business, or marketing, but if your blueprint is set for debt, then it doesn’t matter what you know. Look at Donald Trump. It doesn't matter what he does, he will always be a billionaire because of his financial blueprint. Even when he lost it all, within two and a half years he got it all back. Have you noticed how most lottery winners eventually end up back where they started? Our money blueprint is based on what we are taught, through verbal programming, modeling, specific incidents, and so on.

Our mind is like a big old filing cabinet full of various blueprints. These blueprints consist of the knowledge we have acquired and that knowledge influences our thoughts, which in turn leads to our actions, which give us our results. Thoughts lead to feelings, and feelings lead to action, and actions lead to results.

Picture a fruit tree. Suppose the tree represents the tree of life and imagine that you can see the roots below the surface. Those roots feed the tree. The roots represent thoughts and the fruit represents our results. The roots create the fruits.

Most people work on trying to change the fruits, the results, but until you change the source of the fruit, the blueprint root, it just doesn’t work. For example, assume the tree is a lemon tree, and a person thinks, "I don't want lemons, I want apples." So the person climbs up, removes the lemons, and glues apples in their place. Will the tree then produce apples? No, it won’t because it is still a lemon tree. Change has to happen at the cause not at the effect.

The roots cause the fruit. It’s what’s under the ground that creates what’s above the ground.

Being: What happens when couples have different blueprints?

Eker: It is common for couples to have completely different blueprints. Since they most likely grew up in differing environments, their inner files will be different. Therefore, in order to work as a team they need to change their blueprints, so that rather than being a source of conflict, they have blueprints that support each other. Essentially, the couple can create a third blueprint, like a mini-corporation, a cooperative partnership, to run the financial side for the good of the relationship.

Being: How does one go about changing the blueprint?

Eker: If you want to change the visible, you must first change the invisible. We are creatures of habit. The mind will fool us into thinking that things will change in five or ten years, but nothing really changes until we change our blueprint, which exists in the mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of ourselves. There are definite ways to redesign our blueprints. Rather than try to cover the steps in this brief interview, they can be found in my book, "The Secrets of the Millionaire Mind."

Being: Your book is a #1 New York Times best seller; would you tell us more about it?

Eker: My book has three parts.

Part one explains how blueprints work, and how to modify them.

Part two teaches how rich people think, and how to take action using your millionaire mind.

Part three includes free tickets to my live audience event, "The Millionaire Mind Intensive," and the value of tickets is $1295 each. This is my gift included in each book, because the mark of true wealth is determined by how much one can give away.

Yes, I truly agree with Mr.T. Harv Eker
that we must change our money blue print in life. More importantly we must learn self hypnosis to deeply discard our old beliefs about money. Through self hypnosis we can be able to reach our subconscious mind and feed the right and affirmative money blue prints that we wish to have in our lives.
